Having spent 20 years as a Designer travelling the world sourcing beautiful fabrics, analysing trends and creating gorgeous colour palettes I decided to fuse my passion for all things fashion with my other great love, interiors.

I have had many years experience with renovating and redecorating homes, in both Auckland and Sydney; villas, terrace houses and new builds. My idea of a home is a welcoming sanctuary, a haven that you can return to and recharge and relax - a reflection of you and what inspires you.  To have beautiful things in our environment makes us happy, it gives so much pleasure. Just as important though is having your home well thought out so life is easy.  Good design enables us to have fun with friends and family seamlessly, to feel comfortable without really giving it a thought.

I love to create an environment that has every little detail thought out to offer a refined and luxurious feel, yet completely of the moment. A timeless style that blends traditional and modern. Most important an environment that makes your house a home to be proud of.

We engaged Pipi Design to give our dated Takapuna salon a complete make over to take advantage of the beach and street aspect. Al immediately understood the look we wanted and took the time to understand our business to ensure all spaces within the salon flowed seamlessly and efficiently.  We gutted the entire floor, and with Al’s guidance and vision the salon was transformed from dark and uninviting to an open airy modern space that clients love coming to and our staff enjoy working in.  We have recently completed two homes.  From the beginning we had a fantastic architect and amazing builders so whoever we chose to be our interior designer needed to work in synergy with both and also be superb.  We had used an interior designer once before and were unimpressed. This time around, however, was a completely different story.  Ali got involved at very early stages with the architect and then worked brilliantly with the builder as well.  She was absolutely an incredible addition to our project and without her we would have wasted a lot of time and money and ended up with a totally inferior product.  I was too busy in my job to run around looking at taps, carpets, tiles, paint colours etc and I have the creative ability of a small slice of tomato.  Ali did all that for us - she sourced fantastic products at great prices and knew where money could be saved without going cheap, and where we needed to invest a little more.  Ali totally understood what the house needed but equally importantly, she understood how my family of 4 live on a day-to-day basis and was ensured everything we ended up suits out lifestyle.  We have now been in the house a month and we are beyond delighted with what we've ended up with.  (Our tenants in the other house are also impressed!) Everything works well together and looks amazing!  I cannot speak more highly of Pipi Design and would recommend her to anyone.

When I decided it was time to renovate my tired, old kitchen I talked to Al from Pipi Design.  After initial discussions and given that the kitchen opens to dining and living areas, which were both pretty dull and tired, I decided it would be better to renovate the whole area as a combined project.  
My brief was fairly open with the main criteria being to retain the character and simplicity of the old 30s home.  Al’s ideas were completely sympathetic to the style, she considered all the aspects of the existing home integrating original features with modern touches.  Due to my personal time constraints I put my trust in her eye and recommendations and am absolutely delighted with the end result.  I smile every time I walk into my home.

Al has assisted us with a number of projects, the most recent been a townhouse development in Herne Bay.  As with most developments of any scale the end result is only as good as the team, or sum of the parts that assisted with the project. As such it was essential secure the services of an Interior Designer who could deliver outcomes commensurate to the brief.

Al quickly understands what the customer (developer) requires. She listens well, grasps concepts quickly, has an open non defensive but direct style and is market savvy. Al delivers on time to brief.  We would have no hesitation using Al for future projects.
