Milford

This truly stunning beachfront property on the North Shore was tired, dated and run down.  The original 80’s design didn’t take into account the location or the fabulous outlook.  The primary requirements of the rebuild were to open up the living spaces and reveal the view wherever possible and to create an elegant, classic home.

The outside was re-clad in cedar and black stained shingles and re-roofed in shingles.  Every room inside was rearranged and internal walls were removed to create an open plan living area with gorgeous sea views.  To allow for separate living spaces, a partial wall was put in between the TV room and formal lounge.  A fire was put into the wall to allow sea views from the TV area as well as providing heating to each space.  The expansive entertainer’s kitchen is the true hero in the living area. The large entrance needed a statement and the bespoke feather light is the perfect complement to the newly constructed curved staircase.  A tall elegant window was included on the wall of the stairs to cast gorgeous afternoon light into the area.   The front door is also bespoke and the addition of glass on either side brings in extra light and gravitas, with skylights also providing beautiful light to this area.  Even though the home is light and bright, bi-fold doors were added so the entire front of the house could open up to the view and provide a seamless flow to the outdoors.

Bathrooms were kept neutral and bright. All the colours are very subtle neutral shades of warm greys to blend with the coastal environment.  Materials used are all natural; Calcutta marble bench tops, American Oak floors, wooden joinery inside with aluminium on the outside to cater to the coastal environment.
